The Director -General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC), Chief Olusegun Runsewe, on Monday in Abuja urged Nigerians to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage wherever they go
Runsewe made the appeal when he received a delegation of the West African Journalists Association (WAJA), led by its President, Mr Mohammed Garba.
He said that Nigeria had a huge cultural heritage that could be harnessed to generate enormous wealth for the country.
Showcasing the country's different culture to the delegation, Runsewe said that Nigerians were hospitable and peace loving.
Presenting a cultural pictorial book recently launched by the corporation, he promised to build stronger relationship with the association.
Runsewe described WAJA as a serious-minded organisation, aimed at developing journalism in Africa, hence the need to partner the NTDC to develop the tourism sector.
He promised a capacity building training for WAJA members, noting that the training would be backed by cultural contents and a guided tour to some sites in Nigeria.
Garba solicited stronger relationship with the corporation, saying the relationship would go a long way to cement ties among nations.
He commended the director general for his support for the development of journalism and commitment to the development of tourism in Nigeria.
Some of the countries represented in the delegation include Liberia, Gambia, Burkina Faso, Guinea Bissau, Senegal and Gabon
