Three men were on Tuesday charged with breaking into an office and?stealing property, including laptops, valued at N439,500, at an Apapa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
The trio — Tope Akinshowo, 23; Wasiu Ibrahim, 28; and Happiness Osiegbu, 26 — are standing trial on a three-count charge of stealing, conspiracy and breaking into an office.
They, however, pleaded not guilty of the offences.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Soji Ojaopomo said the accused had on Sept. 2 at 2.00 a.m. broken into Mr Nwakpa Nnanna’s office at Litigo Plaza, Alakija on the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
He told the court that the accused entered the office through the ceiling and made away with items worth N439, 500.
“The accused ransacked the office and stole items, including two laptops, five safes, office furniture and other valuables yet to be ascertained.
“They also stole N202, 000 cash kept in the office. They were, however, caught by security?guards and handed over to the police,’’ Ojaopomo said.
He said the offences contravened Sections 285(a), 305 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State.
Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja granted the accused bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
She said the sureties must show evidence of tax payment in Lagos State and fixed Oct. 29 for further hearing. (NAN)
