Gov. Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State has sued Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, a former Secretary to the Katsina State Government over alleged defamation of character.
In?a writ of summons, reference number KTH/70/2012, dated?Oct. 8 and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Katsina on Tuesday, Shema accused Inuwa of making defamatory statements about him.
The governor?alleged that the defendant had falsely and maliciously published defamatory words concerning him and his office which were allegedly broadcast by the BBC Hausa Service on?July 26 this year.
The plaintiff also claimed one?billion naira in damages for the action and 10 per cent interest on the judgment sum from the date of judgment until its liquidation.
He also sought?an injunction restraining the defendant, whether by himself, his servant or agent?from further publishing or causing to be published?defamatory words against?the plaintiff.
The case will come up on?Nov. 12 at the state's High Court, Katsina. (NAN)
