Host of the 2013 Nigeria Polytechnics Games (NIPOGA), Federal Polytechnic Bida has said that it will require not less than N1.49billion to stage the competition successfully. The President of NIPOGA council and Rector of the host institution, Engineer Abdullahi Sule announced this yesterday in Abuja at a press conference.
?He said the amount will also take care of the host institution participation in West Africa Polytechnic Games (WAPOGA) next year in Accra Polytechnic, Ghana. He explained that 1.14billion of the amount is what will be used for the provision of facilities, administration and organisation of the 2013 NIPOGA Games, while the remaining 350million will be expended on the training and sponsorship of the school athletes to WAPOGA Games.
?Sule said Federal Polytechnic, Bida is poised to make the 18th NIPOGA Games which will take place October next year the best ever, stressing that efforts has reached advance stage to make the event private sector driven.? He said both the federal government and National Assembly have been adequately sensitised about the championship.
He commended former minister of sports and President Nigeria Olympics Committee (NOC), Sani Ndanusa for his patriotic and communal zeal to aid and reach out to governments, individuals and corporate organizations for the successful hosting of the championship.
?NOC president, Sani Ndanusa urged private organisations to take advantage of government‘s tax-rebate of sports sponsorship to invest in the competition.
He said the availability of sports facilities at the neighbouring institutions like Federal University of Technology, Minna and refurbishing of the Minna Township mini-stadium will also add value to the success of the games.
