Four unemployed youths on Wednesday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates' Court for allegedly stabbing one Idowu Bamidele on the cheek.
The accused, Chibuike Onyekachi, 21; Chinedu Smith, 28; Sunday Imoh, 25; and Olabode Falodu, 21, were arraigned on a two-count charge of conspiracy and causing grievous harm.
They pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Eranus Nnamonu, told the court that the accused, of no fixed addresses, conspired to wound Bamidele, by stabbing him on his left cheek.
“The accused stabbed Bamidele on his left cheek with a broken bottle, inflicting wound on his face and they also beat him up, which caused him harm and pains all over the body.
“The accused were arrested after the incident, while Bamidele was rushed to a nearby hospital,” Nnamonu said.
The prosecutor told the court that the accused had no specific occupation.
He alleged that the incident was caused by a quarrel between the complainant and the accused persons.
Nnamonu also said that the incident happened at about 1p.m. on Oct. 13, along Awolowo Way, Alausa, Ikeja, in Lagos.
The offences, according to the prosecutor, contravened Sections 244 and 409 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State, 2011.
Magistrate A.O. Komolafe granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case till Nov. 27 for mention.
