Glo Soccer Academy: Screening Starts Tomorrow

The selection of players for the Glo Soccer Academy will start in Nigeria tomorrow at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The Benin screening of players to the Academy which has been described by Chief Segun Odegbami, ex-Nigerian international, as the academy of all academies, will be administered by top coaches including the Team Manager of the Academy, Victor Nosa Ikpeba, former Chief Coach of Nigeria, Augustin Eguavon and another ex-international, Victor Igbinova.

The Benin screening will last for 2 days and successful players selected from the exercise will join the sixteen (16) talented boys chosen from Ghana after a screening programme which was fiercely contested in six days of rigorous auditioning in three cities of Kumasi, Tamale and Accra.

From Benin, the train will move to the Enugu Centre on Saturday, 27th October and Sunday, 28th at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium.

The City of Port Harcourt will host the Glo Soccer Academy Screening team from Wednesday 31st October to 1st November, 2012 at the Liberation Stadium while the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja will host the screening team from Monday 5th to 6th November, 2012 at the Old Parade Ground.

Nigeria’s commercial capital, Lagos will host the screening team at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium in Surulere from Friday 9 to Sunday, 11 November 2012.

The last batch of screening exercises will hold in two locations in the Republic of Benin.

After screening in Ghana, Nigeria and Benin Republic, thirty-three (33) shortlisted players will head for camping at the Glo Soccer Academy facility in Lagos, where they will be trained by top coaches from West Africa together with the coaches from Manchester United.

The final 16 will win sumptuous and life transforming prizes including cash, scholarship and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train at the Man United Soccer Schools, Carrington. The programme is opened to boys between 14 and 17 years.
