The Minister of State for Power,? Dickson Isiaku, has said that the power sector is set to blossom bigger than what has been experienced in the telecommunication sector.
Ishiaku made this assertion during foundation laying ceremony of the permanent site of the National Power Training Institute of Nigeria (NAPTIN) in Abuja.
He said that the current bidding process of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) was a testament to the effect.
He said: “This is the beginning. I don’t expect someone to buy a company and leave it like that; he is going to expand the company, increase the scope because he wants to generate more power to get more money and profit for his venture.
“There is going to be an explosion in the sense that there will be increase in investors; more people will come with their resources and most of them are partnering with foreign firms that will invest. It is when the investment is done that you will see the explosion and results in the country.”
In his remarks, the Director General, NAPTIN, Engr. Reuben Okeke said that a major feature of the permanent site was its multi-disciplinary facilities.
He said, “The facilities will include schools of power generation, transmission and distribution, demonstration grounds, school of house wiring and students’ living area.
“These multi-purpose training facilities will be on hand to support a wide range of training courses which will enhance, facilitate and encourage diverse exchanges and understanding.
“The permanent site, conceived as a centre of excellence will offer facilities for lectures, presentations, seminars and conferences relating to the power sector development’s area of activity.”
