The Head of the Adamawa State Civil Service, Malam Musa Kaibo, said on Wednesday in Yola that over 900 civil servants in the state had taken the oath of secrecy.
Kaibo who made the announcement while opening a two-day workshop for civil servants from grade levels 08 to 10 said the measure was to prevent leaking of government's secrets
? He said the oath of secrecy was important to protect the integrity of government and personalities working for government.??
?“The oath is designed to protect official information from going to unauthorised persons.
“The oath is authorised?? by the Official and Other Secrets Act of Sept. 13, 1962,” Kaibo said.?
?On the aim of the workshop, the head of the civil service said it was intended to inculcate administrative skills in non-administrative cadre officers.
? He said that the effort was to bridge the gap between professionals and those in the common services.?
?“We are actually preparing you for positions of higher responsibility in the near future.
“We are arming you with the skills that will enable you perform your duties with efficiency and understanding,” Kaibo added.?
He said the workshop was an avenue for officers to make the service to awake from slumber and make it virile through the knowledge acquired.?
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that during the training sessions, key issues concerning the civil service career were highlighted and solutions offered.?
About 200 civil servants from different ministries and departments are attending the workshop.
