Niger state government has inaugurated a committee to monitor the implementation and quality of projects being executed with the recently acquired N9 billion bonds secured by the government to enhance development.
The chairman of the committee and the Chief of Staff, Government House, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, said yesterday that the committee was made up of seasoned professionals with the technical know how of? construction and business.
He said the state government was executing about eight projects which include new Minna byepass, the Idi prayer ground to Ahmadu Bahago roundabout road, the Birgi- FUT permanent site? road, Kwakwuti-Gwada road , Dukku-Rijau road as well as the bridge linking the northern and southern parts of Shiroro local government area of the state.
Professor Yahaya told a news conference that the decision of government to set up the committee was to ensure that the projects are executed according to specifications to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state.
“We want to have value for money spent, and ensure timely completion of the projects. We want to put all ministries and departments involved on their toes,” he said.
He said that the committee was impressed by the level of work being carried out when the committee visited the sites of the projects, saying that, “bond projects is about the people of Niger state, it is about development of Niger state, Bond project is working in Niger state.”
