Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Nasarawa State governor on Media and Press Affairs, Alhaji Musa Sani Mairiga, has said that his boss would fulfill his promise to tar rural roads in the state, which were neglected by the previous administrations.
Speaking with journalists in Abuja yesterday, Mairiga hinted that governor Tanko Al-Makura is concerned about the deplorable state of rural roads in Nasarawa.
According to him, “Most roads in the rural areas are not tarred and could be easily washed away during rainy seasons, thereby forcing rural folks to walk several kilometres to their destination.”
The governor’s aide said bad road condition is making it difficult forfarmers to transport their crops and produce to major markets in the urban centres, adding that the previous administrations did virtually nothing to rehabilitate the feeder roads.
He said Al-Makura was committed to alleviating the sufferings of the people, especially those living in the rural communities, adding that the state government recently procured earth breaking machines for the rehabilitation of the roads.
