The maiden edition of Oba Okunade Sijuwade annual leadership lecture and award ceremony will be held at Ile-Ife, Osun State, this Saturday.
The event, which is being put together by Ife Business School will hold at Aquarium events Centre, Parakin, Obalufe layout, Ile-Ife.
In a statement jointly signed by the former Minister of Water Resources, Engineer Bashir Ishola Awotorebo, who is the chairman of the planning committee, and Dr Ademakinwa Adereti, coordinator of the programme, said that Professor Siyan Oyeweso of the Department of History and International Relations, Osun State University, will deliver a lecture entitled: “Purpose of Leadership: A Panacea for Peace and Development, the Role of Traditional Institutions.”
The keynote address will be delivered by the Director-General, Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos,Professor Bola Akinterinwa.
According to the statement, there will be a public presentation of selected speeches of Oba Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, Ooni of Ife, while six eminent Nigerians have been carefully selected for distinguished performance awards.
The award recipients, according to the release, include two serving governors, Alhaji Sule Lamido (Jigawa) and Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (Lagos) both of whom are being recognised for good governance and leadership award.
Others include the Managing Director of Bank of Industry (BOI) Ms Evelyn Ndali Oputu, Director-General of NAFDAC Dr Paul Orhi, Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC) Professor Julius Okojie, and Mr. Ayodele Aderinwale .
The former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) will be the chairman of the occasion while Speaker Aminu Tambuwal, and Her Excellency, Chantal Da Souza Yayi, wife of the President of Benin Republic, Dr. Bony Yayi are the special guests of honour.
