Kaduna State Governor Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa has set up a seven-man committee that would work out modalities for the provision of relief and rehabilitation to those affected by the recent flood in the state.
The governor’s action followed the release of N400 million to the state government by the federal government for the purpose of alleviating cushioning the effect of the flooding on the victims.
The committee under the chairmanship of Mr. Abokie Galadima, has the commissioners of works and environment, the special adviser, Christian Matters, the representatives of the Bureau for Islamic Affairs, the executive secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA).
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Matters, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, told LEADERSHIP that the committee was established as part of measures by the state government to provide urgent succour and relief to victims of the floods across the state.
He said, “His Excellency has actually set up a seven-man committee to work out modalities of how to uplift the suffering of the victims of flood disaster in the state.
“The committee has actually started sitting. By this we are letting Kaduna people know that work is in earnest, they are not neglected and we will do our best to make sure that people who are displace are back to their homes,” he said.
President Jonathan had pledged to share a total of N17.6billion to all the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory as direct intervention in the cases of flooding.
