The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) says it plans to accelerate the deployment of robust broadband services across the country to enhance communication among the people.
This was disclosed in Nwagele and Aboh Mbaise in Imo State on Friday at the commissioning of an air- conditioned computer laboratory. The Executive Vice chairman of the commission, Dr. Eugene Juwah, said that this had become necessary owing to the global adaptation of ICT.
Juwah said the commission plans to achieve this through its Digital Awareness Programme (DAP) and the Avance Digital Awareness Programme for Tertiary Institutions (ADAPTI) as well as other services. Juwah, who was represented on the occasion by the commission’s board member, Mike Onyia, said the DAP programme was designed for secondary schools, of which 230, have benefitted.
Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who represented by the Director of Imo Foundation, Mrs. Ngozi Njoku, lauded the commission for ensuring that students were ICT compliant.
