The President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Shehu Sani has said that? President Goodluck Jonathan’s economic programme is a sham.
Shehu in a statement? said that, “almost two years down the road, it’s crystal clear that his government is worse than the ones he inherited. Nigeria is still on the business as usual syndrome; making money from oil, looting some, sharing some and pilling up debts. The high level of corruption and state abetted theft under the Jonathan administration discredits it from being trusted with all earned and borrowed money”.
According to him, the reported attempt by the Federal Government, through the finance minister, Okonjo Iweala, to secure the approval of the National Assembly to source for a $7.9 billion? loan from abroad stands condemned, saying “it is irrational ,irresponsible, immoral and economically senseless.”
“The very finance minister who persuaded the Government of President Olusegun Obasanjo to part with almost $20 billion in the name of debt cancellation, is now striving to lead the nation into another debt trap. A nation that exports 2.5 million barrels of crude oil per day with a reported $40 billion in foreign reserve and a culture of sharing excess crude funds to state Governors, makes no sense in its quests for loan.
