The government of Sokoto State has accepted to host the Nigeria Nationwide League Annual General Assembly and its other end of year programmes. Disclosing this to LEADERSHIP SPORTS, Chairman of the Nationwide League formerly known as the Amateur League, Ahmad Muazu Kawu, said the governor of the state Aliyu Wamakko, after a meeting last week with the leadership of the lower league gave his approval to host the league’s end of year event as well as its annual congress in the state. “The Sokoto State government has accepted to host our end of year activities which include our Annual General Assembly, best of 8 competitions which will see the emergence of teams that will be promoted to Div 1 will take place this month on the 30th and the unveiling of the Nationwide League logo. The Annual General Assembly that will see the convergence of 128 officials plus six members of the National League will hold on December 2.”
Kawu who hinted that about three governors have signified interest to attend will have the Inspector General of Police Abubakar Mohammed, Speaker House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, ex internationals, Daniel Amokachi, Garba Lawal, Jay-Jay Okocha, Baba Otu Mohammed, Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi and Kanu Nwankwo among others. ”The event is the beginning of our initiative to open up that zone to a new experience in football affairs.” He said.
