Barely 20 hours after the reconstituted Edo State Election Tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to make available election materials to legal Counsels of Major General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), the Court of Appeal in Benin, yesterday, ordered the Edo State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal to retry an application challenging Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s academic qualification to contest the July 14, 2012.
Airhiavbere of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) filed the petition against Oshiomhole, and named the ACN, INEC, the Resident Electoral commissioner and the INEC returning officer as co-defendants in the case at the tribunal
Airhiavbere in his petition said that he was contesting the outcome of the election and alleged that Oshiomhole did not possess the minimum qualification and that the modern school certificate as presented by him (Oshiomhole) before INEC was fake.
