The Niger State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructural Development Alhaji Abubakar Baba Jibreel has said that the Niger state government is to expend N123.5million on the renovation of the Governor’s Main lodge in Government House, Minna
Jibreel told Journalists, yesterday, in Minna that contract for the project has been awarded to an indigenous firm and the contractor has been given one month to complete the renovation work.
The terms of contract he disclosed entail the widening of some of the rooms and provision of modern furniture and said that government decided to embark on the renovation to stop the building from total collapse.
While he was silent on what the house will be? used for since the Governor has not been staying in the main lodge, he said the decision was to make sure that the building was made good for living.
In another development, the commissioner said that the state government will soon start work on the street light project between chancahaga town in the outskirt of Minna and the Maikunkele junction through the western bye pass.
The commissioner who said the project cost would be disclosed after final evaluation said its completion will put a stop to people hiding under the cover of darkness along the roads to perpetrate havoc and criminal acts.?
