The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto, the Rt. Rev Hassan Kukah, on Friday advised school children to take to creativity, reading, dancing, music and other ventures that would help them develop their talents.
Kukah, author of “Witness to Justice,” made the call at the ongoing “14th Lagos Book and Art Festival “ in Lagos.
He said that the world was a large market where talented children needed to exhibit their potential to earn a living and promote their country's culture.
Kukah said, “youths are the leaders of tomorrow, their potential matters a lot.’’
He advised teachers to identify talented children and groom them to maturity.
“Parents and teachers should value the future and talent of their children and tap from their potential and groom them to be good ambassadors.
“Grooming the children would help in developing the society by contributing their quota toward nation building.
“Engaging the youth in one thing or the other would help to transform their mindset.’
He said that the education environment would give talented youths the opportunity to exhibit their talents and to gain employment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was attended by school children from different areas, who were taught?? creativity, poetry, music, dancing, arts and culture.
