Gov. Gabriel Suswan of Benue has called on individuals and organisations to assist the State Government in tackling acts capable of causing breach of peace in the state.
Suswam made the call in Makurdi on Saturday during his investiture as an Ambassador and Grand Patron of the state council of Universal Peace Federation (UPF).
Represented by Dr Torngee Tor-Anyiin, Suswan noted that government alone could not stamp out all societal ills
He said that for peace to prevail in the society all hands must be on deck to tackle vices head on.
The governor said that he had empowered the security outfits to enable them to protect lives and property, pointing out that this had reduced crime to the barest minimum in the state.
According to him, house breaking, pick pocketing, burglary and even pilfering; have been nipped in the bud.
He gave assurance that the award would spur him to ensure that the relative peace in the state was sustained.
The National President of the federation, Dr George Ikpot, during the investiture praised Suswan for the bold steps to ensure the safety of lives and property in the state.
Earlier, the state President of UFP, Tor-Anyiin, pledged the support of members to the struggle against acts that could tamper with the relative peace in the state.
Tor-Anyiin stressed that peace was the foundation which other things depend on for survival.?
