Nigeria Customs Service Zone B Generates N752m

The Zone B Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has generated more than N752 million revenue in October.

The Assistant Comptroller-General of the zone, Mr Eno Ofem, stated this on Wednesday in Kaduna during a meeting with Controllers of State Commands under the zone.

He said about N509 million of the amount was contributed into the Federation Account in October while the balance realised from value added tax and other charges was over N243 million.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the money was generated mostly from seizures and levies.

NAN also reports that the controllers from the six commands under the zone presented their performance reports during the meeting.

According to the reports, more than N79 million was generated by the Federal Operations Unit; N121 million by the FCT and over N374.6 million by Kaduna/Katsina Commands.

It also indicated that Kano/Jigawa Command had over N109 million, Niger/Kwara/Kogi; N27.7 million and Sokoto/Kebbi/Zamfara; N47 million.

NAN reports that most of the seizures involved second hand clothes, cars, chicken, rice and cigarettes.
