The Kano Government has commenced preparations for the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the enthronement of the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The Senior Special Assistant to the governor on Kano Emirate Council, Alhaji Tijjani Sanka, made this known?in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kano.
NAN reports that Bayero was appointed the Emir of Kano on Oct. 13, 1963.
“Preparations are in top gear for the celebrations even though no date has been fixed for the grand event; but it will be held in the coming year (2013),’’ he said.
Sanka said that the event which would attract prominent personalities from within and outside the country, and dismissed insinuations in some quarters that the government was investigating the activities of the Emirate Council.
“The issue of investigation is baseless and unfounded. It is a fabrication of some elements who do not wish the present administration well,’’ he said.
According to him, there is mutual understanding and cordial relationship between the government and the Emirate Council.
“We have a very good cordial relationship and mutual respect and understanding with the Emirate council,’’ he said.
Sanka, therefore, called on the people of the Emirate to ignore all those rumours as they were meant to cause disaffection between the Emirate Council and the state government. (NAN)
