Senate President David Mark has described second republic Senate Leader, late?Olusola Saraki, as a political bridge builder, who worked tirelessly for the unity of the country.
Mark said this in Ilorin on Friday when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late?senate leader.
“He was a bridge- builder between Christians and Muslims, ethnic tribes and politicians, he raised many people in politics and in other fields of human endeavour.
He said that Saraki's strong belief in reaching consensus on any political issue stood him out among his contemporaries.
“Saraki gave Nigeria integrity through his political astuteness as he did not make a single enemy but all he did in politics was through consensus arrangement.
“The legacies he left behind should be guiding principles for all politicians,” he said.
Mark said that the Senate held the late political leader in high esteem that made the upper chamber to suspend sitting to honour him because of his outstanding contributions to nation building.
“The Senate can only suspend sitting if senate president or deputy dies, but we did that for Saraki because of his political astuteness and contribution to nation building,” he said.
He urged the people of the state and Saraki’s immediate family to take solace in God and prayed for peace to reign in the state. (NAN)
