Ogun Govt Signs N90.380bn Contract To Construct 8 Roads

Ogun Government on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four construction firms to construct eight roads across the state, valued at 90.3 billion.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the companies are China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), PW Construction Ltd, Hi Tech and Borino Prono Construction Ltd.

Addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Olamikan Adegbite, said that in all, 14 roads valued at N130 billion would be constructed by the government.

He said that eight of the roads would be constructed within 24 months.

The roads include Ilo Awela in Ota, Moshood Abiola Way in Abeokuta, Benin-Shagamu express/Isale Oko junction in Shagamu, and Lafenwa/Aiyetoro/Ajebo Road, also in Abeokuta.

Adegbite said the government exercised care in awarding the contracts, having been “guided by lessons from the success of the Totoro/Sokori/Ita – Eko road which served as a pilot experience''.

The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Wemimo Ogunde, said the contract showed that the present administration was for the people.

Ogunde said the terms of the contracts would be diligently monitored to ensure that the “Ogun standard” was maintained in the execution.

One of the engineers, Mr Cai Jun Jie, gave an assurance of prompt delivery, saying “we will do our best as usual and comply with the contract terms you have given to us’’.
