The NLC in Oyo State ?on Wednesday urged ?the Federal Government ?to wade into the shortage? of ?fuel and kerosene supply ?in the state.
The Chairman of ?the NLC in the state,? Mr Bashiru Abiodun,? told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) ?that fuel was currently being sold at ?N110 per litre in the state ?as against the official pump price of ?N97.
“ We are appealing to President Goodluck Jonathan to help us look into the scarcity of fuel and kerosene in Oyo State ?so that the sufferings of the workers can be assuaged,’’ ?he said.
The NLC boss,? who said ?there had been no? supply? of ??kerosene and fuel ?to the NNPC depot? in the last one year and six months respectively, noted? that the situation? was? causing hardship to residents,? especially ?workers.
“ The prevailing fuel and kerosene supply in the state is not only affecting the socio-economic lifestyle of the people, but also creating the impression ?that subsidy is being removed through the back door,’’ he said.
He? called on the president to investigate ?the activities of ?some oil marketers, saying they were sabotaging ?government’s initiatives to ensure regular supply of? petroleum products.(NAN )
