An Abuja High Court sitting in Bwari has again adjourned hearing in the case between Good People of Mpape Residents Association (GPMRA) and Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) till February 12, 2013.
GPMRA had instituted a case against the FCTA, following plans by the administration to demolish houses in the hilly settlement, located in Bwari Area Council.
The case which was earlier postponed to October 31, could not hold, and hearing was supposed to resume in the matter yesterday but failed to hold, GPMRA and defendant, FCTA that the case could not be heard and was subsequently adjourned.
It would be recalled that the joint Committee of the Senate and the House of Representatives on the FCT had assured residents of Mpape settlement that the National Assembly would not allow the area to be demolished without alternative arrangements as compensation.
Chairman of the Senate Committee on FCT, Smart Adeyemi, who spoke when the committee went on an oversight visit to the area, maintained that there would not be any demolition until alternatives to resettle the residents were ready, and also urged the residents not to panic.
