The Plateau State chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has given the state government a 10-day ultimatum to pay the striking local government workers or face mass protest.
Plateau State chairman of the NLC, Jibrin Bancir, who stated this during a press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre, Jos, said that if Governor Jonah Jang failed to pay the striking workers before the ultimatum expired, all the affiliate unions to the NLC and other trade unions would relocate their national headquarters to the state to mobilise a general protest.
He said Jang had turned against the people that voted for him, adding, “A lot of citizens have died; children have lost two consecutive terms in primary schools.? Nobody has graduated and entered JSS 1 in public schools, and there is poverty; but the state government is happy carrying out senseless propaganda.”
