The Nigeria Nationwide League has commended the genuine interest of Sokoto State governor Ibrahim Wamakko in the development of grassroots football in Nigeria. Nationwide League chairman and board member in the Nigeria Football Federation, Ahmad Muazu Kawu said the acceptance of the governor to host the NNL end of year programmes which comprises the Annual General Assembly and the Super 8 in the state is a reflection of his love and desire to move the sector forward at a time authorities are almost neglecting it.
Kawu, a former Special Adviser to one time Kano State governor, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau said governor Wamakko is a golden fish that has no hiding which is why he was fished out amongst the lot to be honoured with a honourary doctorate degree Doctors of Law LL.B” by the the Othman Danfodio University, Sokoto. “No one will claim not to see the good works of Gov Ibrahim Wamakko in the area of youth and human development. Because of his strong belief in grassroots football development, he accepted to host the Super 8 and our AGA in Sokoto. On behalf of the Nigeria Nationwide grassroots League-the bedrock and cradle of football in Nigeria I commend him and congratulate him for the award of honourary doctorate degree. It is a well deserved honour,” he said.
