The Enugu State Police Command has arrested an armed robbery suspect, alleged to have in company of others robbed a filling station at Obolo Afor in Udenu Local Government Area.
The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, said in a statement in Enugu on Thursday that the gang committed the offence on Dec 4.
He said the combined effort of the men of the command and a neighbourhood watch group led to the arrest of the suspect.
Amaraizu alleged that the suspect with his gang members invaded the filling station in a car with registration XD 776 AKL and robbed all the pump attendants.
He said that items recovered from the suspect include three short guns, one double barrel short gun, one double barrel long gun, five live cartridges, three mask caps, a saw blade, jack knife and three Nokia handsets.
The spokesman said the command had intensified security measures to arrest the other four members of the gang.
He explained that the suspect was helping the police in their investigation and would soon be charged to court. (NAN)
