Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Emeka Ihedioha yesterday challenged Nigerians to encourage the young ones to shun corruption and other social vices in all their endeavour.
The lawmaker, who made the appeal during a public presentation of a book “The Way We Are: Ideas for a Better Nigeria” written by Sir Jonas Odocha, said corruption was hindering meaningful development in Nigeria.
Hon. Ihedioha who was the special guest of honour during the presentation assured that Nigeria would be a better nation if corruption was reduced to a minimal level.
“We must encourage the younger people to shun corruption and other social vices because corruption is gradually destroying our nation,” he said.
While commending the author of the book for a job well done, Hon. Ihedioha urged young people to take their education seriously and work hard to achieve their heart desire.
The book reviewer, Prof. Akachi T. Ezeigbo earlier described the book as quite readable and different from others that deal with the same subject due to its structure, content and form.
She said the twenty seven-chapters book was essentially essays written at different times, adding that the essays represented the author’s analysis of different issues that were of both national and international import.
