he Jigawa Government on Friday inaugurated a 12-member Arts and Multimedia Censorship Board.
The state’s ?Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, who inaugurated the board, ?said the committee was to regulate and censor the works of? film makers and other artistes ?operating in the state.
Ibrahim said that the board would also monitor ?the circulation of films, works of art ?and other multimedia products.
He further said that the committee would ?encourage local artistes ?to develop their talents with a view to ensuring the ?growth of the film industry in the state.
The commissioner said government was determined ?to promote the arts and expose the rich cultural heritage of the people of the state to the outside world.
In a remark, the Chairman of the Board, Malam Aliyu Suleiman, gave an assurance that ?members would ??discharge their duties diligently.
Suleiman urged artistes ?and residents of the state ?to cooperate with the board ?to enable it discharge its responsibilities. (NAN)
