The Lagos State Police command has arrested 14 suspected notorious armed robbers during exchange of gun duel with the policemen in the last one month.
Briefing newsmen while parading the suspects at the command headquarters, Ikeja on Friday, commissioner of Police, Lagos state command, Mr. Umar Manko, said following the arrest of one Akindele Akinyemi, on October 10, this year with 12 AK-47 riffles, one GPMG? 111 AK-47 rifle magazines, and 5,992 live ammunition among other items, Abba Kyari, commander of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the state command deployed his officers and men and launched a manhunt for the remaining fleeing gang members.
Their strategies paid off, according to the CP as one Ejike Mbogu was tracked down and arrested with bullet wounds at a popular beer parlour in Ikotun area, on the outskirts of Lagos.
According to Manko, Mbogu took the anti-robbery police officers to one hotel in Ikotun, where his gang members were lodging during which cross-fire ensued between the armed detectives and the robbers, culminating in the arrest of one Seun Adegboyega, who was said to be number two man in the gang but later died as a result of the gun wounds sustained, while one Agbowa Ekene and Paul Ofule were arrested.
