Life and death are coins of two sides but the untimely death of Governor Ibrahim Yakowa?? is something the citizens of Kaduna State need to take as perhaps the act of God.
Though painful as his death may be, the running of the state affairs must continue in order to avoid any vacuum. In line with section 191 (1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended)? the deputy governor, Dr Ramalan? Yaro , will be sworn in within the? next 24 hours to take over the mantle of leadership of the state as the executive governor.
But the development indicates that Yaro’s previous position will? be filled with another person, apparently from the southern senatorial zone where the late Governor Yakowa hailed? from, since the new governor is from the northern senatorial zone.
The question therefore is who will be the likely person that will take the mantle of deputising for the new governor from that zone.
The very likely persons may be those who are already political players in the scheme of affairs either presently in the state or at federal government level.
It was alleged that Vice -President Namadi Sambo was the force that brought in Yaro as deputy governor. If the allegation is true, then it is obvious that he (Sambo) will have a major say on who should be appointed as deputy governor to Yaro.
The person must definitely be in the good books of? Sambo? and Yaro with all forms of loyalty.
But analysts have mentioned certain individuals as likely candidates for the deputy governorship position. They include Yakowa’s Principal Private Secretary (PPS) ,Yohanna Alamagani, the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,? Jonathan? Adamu, Yakowa’s? Special Adviser on Religious Affairs ( Christian Matters) , Reverend Joseph Hayab, the Chief of Staff? and? Mr. Aboki Galadima. The aforementioned candidates hail from the southern senatorial zone and major political players.
The people of the zone may also unanimously decide to appoint who represent them and may not include the names of the above-mentioned individuals.? But the people of the state may not wait for too long as there are ongoing political horse trading to chose the next deputy governor for the state .
