FIFA Ranking: Super Eagles Moves Up Five Places

Nigeria’s Super Eagles, following their 3-1 convincing win over Venezuela in a friendly last month has seen them move up five places from 57th to 52nd in the world in the latest FIFA rankings released yesterday by the world soccer ruling body, FIFA. Stephen Keshi’s squad is now the 10th best team in the continent. Cote d’Ivoire is still remains Africa’s top ranked football nation and 14th in the world. Algeria is Africa’s second best team and 19th in the world while the Eagles of Mali are the third best team on the continent and 25 globally. Ghana is 4th in Africa and 29 in the world while African champion, Zambia is the 5th best team on the continent and 39th in the world. Egypt, Tunisia, Central African Republic, Nigeria and Libya respectively complete African top 10 teams.

Spain retained its number one position in the world followed by Germany, with European Championship finalists Italy at the fourth and England at the sixth.?

Former world number one and host of 2014 World Cup, Brazil plummeted to the 18th in the latest world rankings. Brazil dropped from 13th.
