NDLEA Arrests 114 Suspects, Seizes 517.20 kg Of Illicit Drugs In Niger

The Niger State Command of the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency {NDLEA} has arrested a total of 114 suspects since the beginning of the outgoing year.

The agency’s Commander in the state, Alhaji Abdullahi Abdul, disclosed this in a statement he issued yesterday in Minna. He said that 517.20kg of various illicit drugs were seized by the command during the period under review.

He stated that in all the operation the command was able to secure 51 convictions while other cases were still pending at the Federal High Court in Minna awaiting determination.

Abdul said that the command was able to counsel no fewer than 69 persons and they were integrated into the society in the counselling service scheme of the command.

He said most of the drugs being abused by the youths in the state were Cannabis (Indian Hemp) and Psychotropic drugs like cough syrup, and valium, while the abusers were between the age range of 18 to 40 years.
