Plans are under way by the Office of the Director-General Bauchi State Tsangaya Education also known as the Almajiri Education System to introduce Qur’anic writing competition among the students of Islamic schools in the state.
The Director-General on Tsangaya Education, Sayyadi Aliyu Dahiru Bauchi, disclosed this to LEADERSHIP SUNDAY during a chat in preparation for the closing ceremony of this year’s Qur’anic recitation competition in the state.
Bauchi, who is also the Deputy Chairman of the state Qur’anic recitation competition committee, said the initiative which was copied from Yobe State will go a long way to encouraging children not only to know how to recite the holy Qur’an fluently but also enable them to learn how to write it in the Arabic text.
He explained that a committee of renowned Islamic scholars have met over the issue and will soon invite interested candidates from all the identified Qur’anic schools across the state to partake in the competition.
The cleric therefore appealed to the state government not to relent in assisting Tsangaya schools and teachers in the state stressing that they contribute immensely by imparting religious knowledge and moral values to the society.
