Vice President Muhammed Namadi Sambo yesterday, Kaduna State Governor, MukhtarRamallanYero and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state yesterday met for several hours to chart a new course for the state after the death of Governor Patrick Yakowa in a helicopter crash in Bayelsa State last Saturday.
Sambo appealed to the state caucus of the PDP to rally round Yero to move the state forward.
The meeting was held at the Hassan UsmanKatsina State House, Kawo at the instance of the new governor.
It was learnt that issue of the nextdeputy governor featured in the parley.
In his address, Yerocalled on the PDP leaders to support him in enthroning good governance in the state.
The state PDP Chairman, Ambassador NuhuBajogaAudu, assuredYero of the state the party’ssupport for him.
The PDP National Organising Secretary,AlhajiAbubakar Mustapha, also appealed for unity and supportfor the new governor.
The leaderslater went into a closed-door meeting, which was attended by the Minister of Environment,HajiaHadizaMailafia, Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK), Ambassador DalhatuTafida, Senators Isaiah Balat, NenadiUsman, Hon. Umar Barde, Godferry Gaya, past and top government functionaries.
Senator Muhammed Ahmed Makarfi was absent at the meeting.
