Fulani Move To Stop Extinction Of Language

Tabital Pulaaku International was conceived years back by the elite Fulbe community across the globe in order to revive the culture, language and tradition of the Fulbe that is on the verge of extinction a result of civilisation coupled with the itinerant nature of the Fulbes which makes their culture, language and tradition to be susceptible to complete dominance by alien cultures and hence facing extinction.

That is why Tabital Pulaaku International seeks to rejuvenate the Fulbes culture and language through the reincarnation of their folklores, poetry, music and deep rooted heritage.

Also efforts are being made by the stakeholders to make publications in the language and incorporate it in the academic curricular of many countries The stakeholders are also poised to employ various media platforms? to embark on extensive enlightenment to revive the language beyond Fulbe communities.

It was an occasion for the renaissance of the Fulbe cultural heritage which saw Fulbe from all nooks and crannies of the world converge at the famous Modibbo Adama courtyard to celebrate their essence under the auspices of the pan Fulbe socio – cultural organization, Tabital Pulaaku International during its 10th anniversary at the Lamido Zubairu Polo ground Damare Yola. Fulbe’s from many countries including Mali, Niger, Burkinafasso, Togo, Mauritania, Ghana, Guinea Konakry, Cameroun, USA and 19 states of Nigeria converged at Yola to deliberate on issues affecting their well being and the way forward. The convention of the meeting at Yola by his Royal Highness Alhaji Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, who doubles as the Grand Patron of the organization, was one of the remarkable feats he achieved in his three year reign as the Lamido of Adamawa.

This is because, the event was a double edged sword that seeks to promote the cultural heritage of the Fulbe race across the globe while also serving as a vehicle for promoting inter – ethnic harmony between the Fulbe race and their host communities across the globe especially in the face of the recurring violent conflicts between pastoralists and their host communities which usually leads to the pulverization of lives and properties across board.

In his speech at the occasion, Lamido of Adamawa, said, the occasion would serve as platform through which the Fulbe race seeks to share its cultural heritage and deeply rooted tradition with the rest of the world in other to enhance unity, understanding and communal harmony between the Fulbe and the various communities with which they cohabit all over the world.

The Lamido also acknowledged the challenges he and other stakeholders faced in planting, nurturing and sustaining the organization to its present state of development even as he eulogizes the efforts of various stakeholders at ensuring the sustenance of the organization.

?“When Tabital Pulaaku International was founded ten years ago, we have encountered several challenges and sacrificed a lot to ensure it succeeds locally, nationally and internationally.

In these 10 years, Tabital Pulaaku bore the pains of establishment, experienced the toil of consolidation, carried the trials of sustainability and the challenges of expansion.

“We have also noted with concern, the farmer grazer conflict. Though such conflicts could be located within the context of competition for resource use, nevertheless, we must recognize that the negative attitude of some of our pastoralists who in the name of grazing devastate lives and crops of innocent and peace loving citezens with unbelievable impunity cannot under any circumstances be tolerated. As we earlier observed, this conduct is not only a negation of the Pulaaku but also if not checked could precipitate horrendous inter –ethnic conflicts and the consequent destabilization of our polities.
