A pressure group in Osun State, Democratic Network Alliance(DNA) has called on the state governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola to stop playing politics with the employment of health workers in the state.
The group noted that playing politics with employment process of medical personnel would encourage mediocrity which would spell? doom and disaster for the sector in the state.
A statement issued and signed by its state chairman, Dr Mubarak Abiola, a copy of which was made available to LAEDERSHIP in Osogbo at the weekend, lauded Governor Aregbesola on his effort to ensure that competent teachers were employed in both primary and post primary schools of? the state, and urged the governor to follow the same pattern in the employment of medical personnel in the state.
Dr Abiola further stressed that it has never happened in the history of the state for medical personnel to be employed through a faulty process.
The statement reads in part,”It is unwise? for the State Hospital Management Board(HMB) for not allowing the candidates that sat for the employment examination to know their performance as it was in the case of State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) before calling few candidates who have political link with the present crop of people in the corridors of power presently for the oral interview.
“We want to say that it does not augur well for the board to rush in appointing the personnel for our hospitals because it is a sensitive sector that is dealing with the lives of the people of the state and any error committed today , may not be corrected in years to come.”
The group used the medium to call on Ogbeni Argbesola to look into this issue and also take the wise step like what he did in? SUBEB by ensuring that the scores and names of participants are made public.
“We believed that anybody who preaches equity, fairness and justice in our society must come with clean hands and experts should be allowed to conduct such an examination and allow the candidates that applied to know their scores so as to repose the confidence of the people of the state in the present administration”, they added.
