Keshi Shouldn’t Have Considered Odemwingie — Akpoborie

Former international striker, Jonathan Akpoborie has disclosed that Super Eagles coaches should not have considered West Brom attacker, Peter Odemwingie for a place in the team for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The former international says the West Brom star should have no place in the Super Eagles for the Cup of Nations in South Africa. Odemwingie had not taken lightly his exclusion from the team and he decided to take his frustration on the coach and the Nigeria Football Federation on Twitter on Sunday.

Odemwingie expressed displeasure at being dropped from the national team and might have played his last for the team having said in a tweet: “Keshi has no footballing reasons not to invite me but is not saying the truth. He is still in my plans he said haha coach u no dey [you’re not in] my plans.

Akpoborie said there is really no future for the West Brom man in the present Super Eagles for the Nations Cup.

“A situation where you have Ahmed Musa, Victor Moses and Ejike Uzoenyi shoud not warrant any coach to begin to look in the direction of Osaze,” Akpoborie told Goal.com. “The three players are enough for whatever we want to do from the wings. It is because Keshi even considered him that made him rant on twitter. I believe he is entitled to his opinion and should state his case but not insult people because he was not selected for the final phase of camping in Faro. If Keshi had included him in the 32 man squad, he will not come to twitter to insult people. Like I said, he is entirely entitled to his opinions, but he should know how to express them. Osaze is supposed to one of the players that the young boys should model their careers after. But he has spoilt it with the way he has handled this issue. He is no doubt a good player, but this is not the way to make his grievance known. He should show good examples at all times,” said Akpoborie
