The Indian paramedical student who was gang-raped last week on a New Delhi bus, was flown to Singapore for treatment early on Thursday, a local news report said.
Mount Elizabeth Hospital admitted the 23-year-old to its intensive care unit at 9:05 am “in an extremely critical condition,’’ it told The Straits Times.
“She is being examined and the hospital is working with the Indian High Commission,’’ the report cited a hospital spokesman as saying.
The Indian government on Wednesday ordered a probe into the Dec. 16 rape and assault of the woman that sparked widespread protests at the weekend, leaving 130 injured and a policeman dead.
Six persons, including the driver of the bus, have been detained in connection with the rape, and their trial is scheduled to begin on Jan. 3.? At least 661 rapes have been reported in New Delhi since January.
