Elders of the Nunku community of Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, have apologised to the acting governor of the state, Dameshi Barau Luka, who was recently attacked by youths when he went to sympathise with the families of two persons that lost their lives in an accident while on their way to pay him Christmas homage at his country home.
Leader of the delegation, Alhaji Adamu Mohammed, in an address? delivered yesterday when the group paid a courtesy call on the acting governor in his office, dismissed the action of the youths as provocative and uncalled for, saying that it was only the antics of miscreants who were misguided.
Alhaji Adamu said that there was no reason for any Nunku person to raise his hands against the deputy governor, who was the first in the state from the Mada ethnic group and who had taken issues that concern the community to the front burner.
While denying any previous knowledge of the incident, the Nunku spokesman, vowed that such an incident would not occur again, stressing that the community would not allow violence to rule the minds of the people of the area.
He urged the government to? allow justice to take its natural course by ensuring that those who perpetrated the act are brought before the law to serve as a deterrent to others.
