The Nigerian Governors Forum, (NGF) yesterday, said that it would not join issues with Senator Jubril Aminu over his allegation that the Forum has become a tool of oppression on the Federal Government and the people of Nigeria.
Speaking exclusively to LEADERSHIP on phone, the Director General of NGF, Mr. Asishana Okauru said the Forum would respond appropriately after a complete review of the statement has been done.
Senator Aminu, while speaking at a media briefing organised by the Peoples Democratic Party in Yola, was quoted as saying that “the Governor’s Forum is oppressing everybody, including the President.”
He further said “I don’t know how the Forum came about in this country. And if it is not checked, it will put the country in trouble, as the State Chief Executives unite to challenge the Federal Government”.
But Okauru who described Sen. Aminu as a respected Nigerian, explained “there is a process through which we react to issues like this. We will review the statement and put it in context and respond appropriately.”
