Who is actually telling the truth here? Could the social network audience have been totally wrong on the Senior Special Assistant (SSA), to the vice-president on Media and Publicity, Mr. Sani Umar, secretly marrying Nollywood actress, Miss Nkiru Slyvanus? Isn’t it a common belief that there can be no smoke without fire?
Well, Umar Sani yesterday in Abuja denied marrying the Imo State-born Nollywood actress shortly after she was released from the den of some gunmen who kidnapped her in December last year.
Sani was bitter when he was reacting to an online report in the social media that he recently married the actress who is also Special Assistant on Public Affairs to Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State in a secret location with only few friends present at the ceremony.
Speaking to State House Correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the vice-president’s spokesman said, “The report is very funny. How can you marry somebody you have not seen for over three months? The last time I saw her was in September so how can a marriage take place when the subject matters have not seen each other?”
Umar said the story is not only “false” but “a figment of the writer’s imagination. I have not married Nkiru Sylvanus and if a wedding of such took place, people should be able to tell the venue, date and time. It is not true!
It had been rumoured that few days after Nkiru was released from kidnappers den, she got married to her long time heartthrob, Umar Sani, secretly.
According to online sources, the wedding which held two weeks ago, was given a media blackout and attended by handful of family members.
It was also gathered that the wedding was made cloak-and-dagger because of the media attention that trailed the kidnapping of the actress and because Sani already has a wife, placing Nkiru as his second wife.
It would be recalled that Nkiru Sylvanus was kidnapped by some gunmen in Owerri on Saturday, December 15, 2012, where the kidnappers demanded a ransom of 100 million naira for her release.
She was released a week later, though there were unconfirmed reports that a ransom was paid.
Again, it was reported that Nkiru and Umar Sani had been dating for a while and it was Sani, who allegedly got her political appointment in Imo State through his connection with Rochas Okorocha, who is said to be a close friend of his.
According to another report, it was Umar Sani that paid ransom of several millions of naira demanded by the kidnappers.
A picture the actress used as her Blackberry displayed picture was what reportedly precipitated the rumours as those who knew had been having an affair with the media spokesman believed the rumour religiously that she had a secret wedding.
