The Niger East Development Initiative has told the? All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) governorship candidate in? Niger State in 2011 election, Barrister David Umaru to desist from attacking the Governor of Niger State, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu.
The Secretary of the group, Bala Daniyan Kuta said that the position of the group was arrived at during its recent meeting in Minna where it resolved that the attacks were not in the interest of the people but for selfish political reasons.
Kuta told Journalists yesterday in Minna that the action of David??? Umaru has shown that he could not unify the diverse ethnic and religious groups in the state as required of a leader.
“God knows why he lost election in the past may be? the electorate are not comfortable with the type of leadership that Barrister David Umaru is likely to give the state because even before winning election he has isolated himself from the people he is asking to vote for him,” he added.
According to him, “He does not maintain an open door policy, he keeps to himself and members of his family. There is no way a person like that can rule Niger State where everybody is looked at as members of the same family.”
He said the group had no option than to come out to advice the ANPP chieftain “because we know that when two elephant fight the grass will suffer and this mean we the masses will suffer.”
Kuta said if the ANPP chieftain does not desist from? such distractive tendencies he would be regarded as a bad loser who was out to pull down Governor Aliyu just because he could not get to power.
