An 80 year old mother of an Islamic scholar arrested last July in Bida, Hajiya Aisha Abdullahi has appealed for the release of the Islamic scholar, Sheikh Isah Mohammed.
She appealed to the police and the State Security Service(SSS) to release his son who she claimed was incarcerated and held incommunicado from the family and lawyers.
Aisha who came crying to journalists over the weekend at IBB Pen House Minna said despite efforts made by the family to establish contact with the Islamic scholar, the whereabouts of? Isah with two others, Ahmadu Mohammed and Zuberu Adams picked together was yet to be known by the families.
“I am worried about the safety of my children I want to know if they are alive” She said amidst sob, adding that the situation had affected her health and would want to see her children lest she dies.
She claimed that her son was a peaceful preacher who did not believe in violence insisting that the Sheik has never been a security threat to the people of Bida and the state in general to warrant such incarceration.
Hajiya said she was surprised that the combined police and SSS officials came to pick his two sons without any evidence saying “the preaching of my son was that people should follow Allah and obey His words and messages.”
