A former minister of transport, Hon. Ibrahim Bio has urged the north central zone to blame past leaders for the lack of development in the zone.
Ibrahim, who spoke at the inauguration of north central consultative assembly at Nicon Luxury hotel in Abuja yesterday also lamented that, president Goodluck Jonathan is trying to concentrate on the south-south. He further urged the present crop of north central leaders to harness the abundant solid minerals that litter the zone and use it to change the fortune of the north.
The convener of the forum, Barrister Kunle Sulyman had earlier stated that “unless we come together on our own to search for solution to our comatose economic development, and infrastructural decay, the future may be bleak for our children”
He also stated that, though the north central zone is the richest solid mineral base of in Nigerian and there is no evidence that the federal government which has the sole right of exploration and exploitation is ready to invest heavily in the region in order to develop its great economic potential for betterment of the region and Nigeria at large.
The lawyer further stated that, the North Central Zones abundant mineral resources have been abandoned or neglected by the center to the detriment of the people of the zones and Nigeria at large.
Decrying the plight of the people of the north central, the convener stated that the 50% energy consumed in the country is produce in the north central zone,? saying that it is regrettable that yet there is palpable infrastructural decay in the north central zone.
