Head Media and Publicity Committee at the Nigeria Football Federation, Emeka Inyama has revealed ahead of today’s make or mar clash against Ethiopia in the last group game that the NFF was not poised at seeing the Eagles qualify to the next round at all cost.
He said this is because it was this same win at all cost mentality that has seen the team and Nigerian football brought to this dissappointing level. He told LEADERSHIP SPORTS that the NFF wants to see the team take every game as it comes. “I would prefer that we take it one at a time. Qualify for the quarter finals, win and get to the semis and at any point we stop we would have known our strength and weaknesses; then modify the team. We would identify if it is coaching problem or not then go back to the drawing board to see if as a board we have achieved our set goal.”
He said the team is a young one and needs time to blend. “ Zambia has been together 7 years, Burkina Faso has been to their second or third Nations Cup together so there is need for caution because what has brought problem to Nigerian football is the tendency to win at all time. tendency to fix it anyhow. The team is young, under a new coach and some of the players are just two months old.” He said????
