Senators from the newly formed All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday stated that the new political party will salvage the political, social and economic situation in Nigeria with a view to rescuing the country from its present rot and corruption.
Led by the Senate Opposition Leader, Senator George Akume, senators of the merging political parties said the APC would free Nigeria from the political and social ills bedeviling her and from the “fangs” of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party “maladministration”.
A cocktail of opposition political parties comprising, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN); All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP); All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA); Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) and Democratic Peoples’ Party (DPP) on Wednesday metamorphosed into the present APC.
In a briefing with newsmen at the National Assembly, Akume described the merger as a step in the right direction.
