Two former governors of old Kaduna State and elder statesmen, Alhaji Lawal Kaita and Alhaji Balarabe Musa yesterday applauded the formation of? the? All Progressives Congress (APC), even as they warned that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will use the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and ICPC to scatter them.
The duo specifically told the new party to beware of the ruling PDP that could? scatter them using the EFCC, ICPC and other anti-corruption agencies.
Alhaji Lawal Kaita, a chieftain of the ruling PDP advised the newly formed political party in a brief telephone interview with LEADERSHIP to put its house in order if they must dislodge the ruling party.
The former governor of old Kaduna State, who stated this in a brief telephone interview with LEADERSHIP, also commended the formation of the new party.
According to him, “We need a strong opposition in Nigeria; it will be good for the north and Nigeria.”
“As a Nigerian, we need an opposition in the country. The new party can dislodge PDP depending on their political calculations and strategies,” the former governor said.
Also speaking with LEADERSHIP, Alhaji Barabe Musa said, “The merger is a welcome development. They can dislodge PDP by 2015; it is possible because people are tired of PDP.”
According to him, “The new political party need to convince Nigerians that they are not just out to dislodge PDP, but that they are also out to prove to Nigerians what the ruling PDP has refused to do over the years.
“They should invite many political parties, as many as possible to either join the merger or to work with them in democratic electoral alliance”.
