The Kwara government on Saturday sealed six filling stations in different parts of the state for selling petrol above the official pump price.
Alhaji Raji Mohammed, the Commissioner for Commerce and Cooperative, ordered the closure when he paid an assessment visit to some filling stations in the state.
The commissioner, who was accompanied by some officials of the Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the state branch of the NLC, said the closure had become imperative.
He expressed disaffection with the attitude of the owners of the stations of cheating innocent citizens.
The stations are Alelagba Filling station in Oro and Odulade Petroleum and Musad filling stations, both in Idofian.
The others are Goodness and Mercy filling stations, both in Omupo and Supermoon filling station in Olulande.
The commissioner said the state government would not condone acts of extortion of money from its citizens.
He gave the assurance that monitoring of activities in filling stations would be a continuous exercise to ensure compliance with government policies and standards.
Mohammed also assured the people that they would always get value for their money on any product they choose. (NAN)
